About this stencil
Dinosaurs are the most requested kids design there is, and the T-Rex is the dinosaur. The brief for this one was simple: it had to be recognisable at a glance, sturdy enough to survive a party's worth of repeats, and charming rather than cartoonish.
The white details do the heavy lifting. The eye and the zigzag tooth line turn a plain silhouette into a character, and both are protected cuts that hold up well in card. If you are hand cutting, do the eye and teeth first while the sheet is still rigid, then the outline last.
One honest note on difficulty: the outline has more curves than our simpler shapes, which is why it carries a medium rating. It is entirely manageable with a fresh blade, and on a cutting machine it is no harder than anything else. The result is worth the extra ten minutes.

How to use this stencil — step by step
- Print at 100% for walls and toy boxes, or around 60% for t-shirts and party bags.
- Hand cutters: cut the eye and the tooth zigzag first with a fresh blade, then the outline. The sheet stays rigid and the fine cuts come out cleaner.
- Fix the stencil firmly; the tail and snout are long points that lift if only the middle is taped.
- Dab from the edges inward with a near dry brush. The legs and tail tips are where bleed shows first.
- For a parade effect, flip the stencil over for every second dinosaur so they face each other.
- Peel while tacky. Wipe before repeating, especially around the teeth where paint builds up.
Party production line: for party bags, skip the brush and use a foam dauber, and stack the bags in a row so you can move stencil, dab, lift, and shift along. Twenty bags takes about half an hour once you find the rhythm.

Is the dinosaur stencil hard to cut by hand?
It is a medium cut rather than a beginner one, mostly because of the curved outline. A fresh blade and cutting the eye and teeth first makes it very manageable. On a Cricut or Silhouette it is straightforward.
How do I make the dinosaurs face both ways?
Flip the stencil over for every second repeat. Wipe it first so wet paint from the front does not transfer, or cut a second copy and keep one for each direction.
What size works on a kids t-shirt?
About 60% of A4 suits ages 3 to 8. Print a paper test and lay it on the shirt first; chest designs read smaller than they look on the sheet.
Will the teeth and eye survive lots of uses?
Yes if you peel carefully and wipe between uses. On card expect the teeth to soften after 10 to 15 repeats; laminate the sheet or cut from mylar for a party sized run.
