The scalloped feather layers on the raised wing are what separate a dove from a generic bird, so cut them cleanly and resist the urge to round them off. The olive sprig is a cluster of small shapes — paint it last with a nearly dry brush, or mask it off entirely for a plain dove. A pair of doves facing each other, one flipped, makes a natural wedding or anniversary motif.

What size works for cards?
35–40% of A4 for an A6 card. The feathers stay legible to about 30%, below which it reads as a clean silhouette — still lovely.
What colour should a dove be?
White on a coloured background is the classic: paint the background first, then stencil in white or cream. Single dark grey on white is smart and easier.
Can I cut this on a Cricut?
Yes. The feather scallops cut beautifully on vinyl — slow the machine down for the small curves.
