Tips & technique
Cut every tooth from its point downward into the mouth rather than sawing along the mouth line — you will get cleaner tips and fewer breakages. Keep the two eyes symmetrical by carving one, then flipping your measurement rather than eyeballing the second. This face wants size: below about 60% of A4 the teeth start closing up.

Is this too frightening for young children?
It is deliberately the scarier option. For younger children the happy pumpkin or the classic jack-o'-lantern land better.
Why do my teeth keep breaking?
Almost always a thick pumpkin wall or a blunt blade. Scrape the inside to about 2cm and use a fresh saw blade before starting the mouth.
Can I use this on a window instead?
Yes — cut it from black card and tape it inside the glass. Backlit after dark it is the most effective decoration you can make for the price of a sheet of card.
What size works best?
Full A4 or larger. The angled eyes and pointed teeth need room; this is not a design for gift tags.
